Soft-Living: The Story Behind The Name

For anyone learning how to stay

Soft-Living comes from choosing myself when I didn’t know how to love myself yet. I lived in fear, anger, and emotional pain for longer than I knew how to survive. I was exhausted, disconnected, harsh to myself and occasionally others. My body broke under the weight of it all — chronic illnesses, burnout, numbness, and emotional collapse.

It became clear: I could either reset my nervous system or lose myself. I had to learn how to live a new life, how to shift my mindset, how to create a lifestyle that supported me instead of draining me. I had to show up for myself, even when it scared me. I chose to prioritize myself. It was time to heal emotionally/physically, to grow without limitations, and to rebuild trust with my body, my mind, and my future.

What works for me may not work for everyone, but I share what I’ve learned with the hope that it reaches at least one person who needs it. This is a space where I create, reflect, recommend, and offer gentle reminders through words, routines, habits, softness, and honesty. If something here helps you, then it’s done its job.

This site is also dedicated to Aleah Grannis. You deserved more time, more softness, and more peace than this world gave you. This space exists in part because of you — and for everyone who is still trying to stay.

Aleah’s poetry can be found here and in the navigation bar.
